Zarema Musayeva sent to pretrial detention center on charges of assaulting an FSIN officer
The mother of Chechen activists, Zarema Musayeva, was sent from a penal colony to a pretrial detention center until February 1, 2025. A second criminal case was opened against her - for disrupting the colony's activities.

The investigation believes that the woman hit the FSIN officer who accompanied her on trips to the hospital and tore off his shoulder strap. She does not admit her guilt. Musayeva's sentence on the first charge will end in the spring of 2025. In the new case, she faces up to five years in prison.

Earlier, the lawyer for the "Team Against Torture" petitioned for the release of Zarema Musayeva for health reasons - the woman has type 2 diabetes - but the court refused.

The European Court of Human Rights awarded Zarema Musayeva and her family compensation for inhumane treatment and threats by the Chechen authorities. In early March, the Pyatigorsk Cassation Court reduced the woman's sentence, reducing her term from 5 years to 4 years and 9 months in prison. Last year, she was convicted in Grozny on charges of using violence against a government official.

Recall that on January 20, 2022, police officers from Chechnya arrived in Nizhny Novgorod and forcibly took Musayeva to her home region. After being taken to Grozny, the woman was accused of using force against a police officer. Allegedly, she scratched his face.
