After prolonged complaints, Zarema Musaeva began to be treated in a hospital

Zarema Musayeva, who was being held in a Chechen colony-settlement, began to receive the necessary treatment in a hospital setting. The lawyers of the “Team Against Torture” have been trying to achieve this for a long time.

“At the moment, Musayeva is undergoing rehabilitation and supportive treatment in a day hospital. This is a very positive trend regarding her health. From objective observations: her health is undoubtedly improving,” shared lawyer Alexander Savin.

Meanwhile, hearings are being held in the Shalinsky City Court on the petition of Zarema Musaeva with a request to release her from serving her sentence for health reasons. In addition to insulin-dependent type 2 diabetes, the woman has problems with her legs and uses crutches.

In early March, the Pyatigorsk Court of Cassation commuted the sentence of Zarema Musayeva from 5 years to 4 years and 9 months in prison. Last year in Grozny she was convicted on charges of using violence against a government official.

Let us remind you that on January 20, 2022, police officers from Chechnya came to Nizhny Novgorod and took Musaeva away. After being taken to Grozny, the woman was accused of using force against a police officer. According to investigators, she scratched his face.

Zarema Musayeva is the mother of Chechen activists Abubakar, Ibragim and Baysangur Yangulbaev. Human rights activists claim that she was kidnapped as a hostage and convicted of her sons’ opposition activities.
