Zarema Musayeva sentenced to five and a half years in prison

The Akhmatovsky District Court of Grozny sentenced Zarema Musayeva to 5.5 years in prison, finding her guilty of fraud and violence against a police officer.

According to the court, the woman scratched the face of the investigator who interrogated her. The Chechen court also found her guilty of "fraud". Neither witnesses nor examinations confirmed Musayeva's guilt.

Human rights activists claim that the woman was kidnapped last year from Nizhny Novgorod and taken to Chechnya as a hostage. She is being held under arrest and placed in a penal colony for the opposition activities of her sons. In particular, Abubakar Yangulbaev.
