Brutal suppression of riot in Angarsk colony, in which a native of Chechnya was injured, was recognized as legal

The Kirovsky District Court of Irkutsk recognized the actions of security forces in suppressing the riot in IK-15 of Angarsk, Irkutsk Region, in 2020, as legal. One of the victims was a prisoner, a native of Chechnya, Khumaid Khaidaev, who received several dozen injuries. This was reported by the "Team Against Torture".
According to forensic examinations, bodily injuries were recorded in 417 prisoners.
45-year-old native of Chechnya Khumaid Khaidaev received a total of 29 injuries: closed fractures of the phalanges of the fingers, bruises, abrasions, subcutaneous hemorrhages all over the body.
The Investigative Committee refused to open a criminal case based on the complaint of human rights activists. During the pre-investigation check, the victims were not interviewed. The fighters of the combined OMON detachment were not identified and questioned.
Earlier, Khumaid Khaidaev denied the accusations of organizing a riot, calling on prisoners to harm themselves, and beating an employee of IK-15 in Angarsk. According to him, he only had six months left to serve before his release, and on the day of the riots, one of the employees tried to provoke him with questions about religion.
In 2022, the Kirov District Court of Irkutsk upheld the refusal to initiate a criminal case on the torture to which Khumaid Khaidaev was subjected as lawful. He was abused in SIZO-1 in Irkutsk, where he was transferred after the suppression of the prisoner riot. He said that, on the instructions of the prison staff, he was hung by his arms and legs, after which he was beaten and burned with a red-hot metal spoon. Later, doctors recorded fractures of Khaidaev's left toes and right hand, as well as multiple bruises, abrasions and contusions.
