Today, Azerbaijan celebrates the 34th anniversary of its restoration of state independence. On August 30, 1991, the Supreme Council of the Republic adopted the Declaration on the Restoration of Independence, and on October 18 of the same year, the Constitutional Act enshrining this status was adopted.

In the capital of Dagestan, another solitary action took place against repressions against the editor of the Dagestan newspaper Chernovik, Abdulmumin Gadzhiev. However, this time the geography of the pickets has expanded to the US state of California. This is reported by “Kavkaz. Realities".
A resident of Beverly Hills, a native of Dagestan, Sultan Ramazanov, came forward with a poster in support of Hajiyev, as well as programmer Kemal Tambiev and the head of the Ansar charity fund Abubakar Rizvanov, who were sitting with him in the dock. The man considered it his duty to remind himself and the society about people whose rights are being violated by the authorities.
“Gadzhiev, Tambiev and Rizvanov in modern Dagestan are a measure of your location in this world. Remembering them, I again feel the ground under my feet and understand that people like them are seriously suffering. And their problems are much more painful and more important than ours,” said Ramazanov.
In Makhachkala, Magomed Magomedov, a colleague of Gadzhiev, a journalist for Chernovik, went out to a solo picket “according to tradition”. With a poster with the inscription "Freedom to Abdulmumin Hajiyev" he stood for about half an hour.
Another protest was held by Idris Yusupov, a correspondent for the Dagestani socio-political weekly Novoe Delo. The journalist demanded the release of all political prisoners.
Recall that Gadzhiev, Rizvanov and Tambiev are accused of financing terrorism and participating in the activities of terrorist organizations. According to investigators, the defendants collaborated with Interpol-wanted Dagestan preacher Israil Akhmednabiev, collected donations and sent them to Syrian terrorists. At the same time, in April, Interpol removed the aforementioned figure from the international wanted list, having come to the conclusion that political and religious goals predominate in his case.
Meanwhile, the consideration of the case of Gadzhiev, Rizvanov and Tambiev is nearing completion. On September 7, the last word will be given to the defendants at the Southern Military District Court in Rostov-on-Don. The prosecutor's office requested for them terms of 19 years.
