European Union Foreign Policy Chief Kaja Kallas stated that the Georgian government's current policies are not aligned with the European Union's direction. Arriving at the EU summit in Brussels, she emphasized the EU's support for the Georgian people but expressed disagreement with the Georgian government's actions. Kallas stated that the country's leadership is leading Georgia "in the wrong direction," which is hindering the process of European integration.
Project “Support for political prisoners. Memorial recognized Tatyana Moskalenko, an arrested pensioner from the capital of Adygea Maykop, as a political prisoner. A case was opened against her under the article on public calls for activities directed against the security of the state. The accused faces up to 6 years in prison.
On her VKontakte page, Moskalenko published posts criticizing the Russian authorities, calling for protests against the war with Ukraine and mobilization. In one of the videos she said: “Friends, please do not follow the lead of these criminals, do not be occupiers, refuse to participate in this criminal, fascist, war of aggression.”
On August 18, Tatyana Moskalenko was sent to a pre-trial detention center. The woman is being persecuted for her anti-war position, human rights activists say.
“Article 280.4 appeared in the Criminal Code after the start of a full-scale war with Ukraine. It was part of a package of repressive innovations aimed at persecuting critics of the invasion. We emphasize that the “security of the Russian Federation” is threatened not by the call to the military not to participate in armed aggression, but by the war itself,” human rights activists noted.
