Elena Patyaeva—a friend of Seda Suleymanova, who disappeared three years ago after being forcibly returned from St. Petersburg to Chechnya—was detained in Grozny. On August 23, Patyaeva stood by the monument to journalists who died for freedom of speech, holding a sign that read: "I demand an investigation into the murder of Seda Suleymanova." The Khasavyurt City Court of Dagestan sentenced local resident P. Makhmudova to one year probation. She was found guilty of public calls for extremist activities.
According to investigators, in February 2023, a woman posted materials on one of her Telegram channels in which an examination revealed calls for attacks on the lives of law enforcement officers.
Taking into account the guilty plea, the court sentenced Makhmudova to one year of probation with a probationary period of six months. This was reported by the press service of the FSB Directorate for Dagestan.
