Zurabishvili called for condemnation of Russia for the murder of a Georgian citizen

Russian soldiers shot and killed a Georgian citizen near the demarcation line with South Ossetia. “This blatant attack on Georgian statehood once again exposes the true nature of the “brother of the same faith.” “I immediately call on the international community to unequivocally condemn the actions of Russia, which has flagrantly and shamelessly violated all international norms,” Georgian President Salome Zurabishvili tweeted.

58-year-old Georgian citizen Tamaz Ginturi was killed “by Russian occupation forces during illegal detention in the occupied territory near the village of Kirbali, Gori municipality,” the Georgian State Security Service said in a statement. Another Georgian citizen, Levan Dotiashvili, was taken to a pre-trial detention center in South Ossetia.

Tamaz Ginturi is a veteran of the Russian-Georgian war of 2008, the brother of Nikoloz Ginturi, a member of the legislative assembly of the Gori municipality from the opposition United National Movement.
