Berlin has recalled its ambassador to Georgia, Peter Fischer, for consultations. The decision, made by German Foreign Minister Johann Wadepoel, is intended to determine how to proceed, the ministry announced.

Meanwhile, as the president of the self-proclaimed republic of Abkhazia Aslan Bzhania is outside its borders, the opposition openly declares its intention to remove him from power. Thus, at today's meeting in Sukhumi with the participation of public figures and the united opposition, they announced preparations for a people's assembly, which should "put an end to the president, who, instead of protecting the interests of the Abkhaz people, is setting them up."
The chairman of the republican public organization "Our Capital" Lasha Shamba read a statement in which Bzhania is accused of "complicating interstate relations" with Russia. The text also speaks of the importance of taking "urgent anti-crisis measures."
"Using the right provided for in Article 2 and Article 17 of the Constitution of the Republic of Abkhazia, we are starting measures aimed at the unconditional, early resignation of Aslan Georgievich Bzhania from the post of President of the Republic of Abkhazia," Shamba announced.
Recall that on September 2, a meeting was held in the parliament of the self-proclaimed Republic of Abkhazia, at which deputies discussed the contents of the much-talked-about protocol of the meeting of the Abkhaz delegation headed by President Aslan Bzhania with Deputy Head of the Presidential Administration of the Russian Federation Dmitry Kozak. According to the "Bzhania-Kozak" protocol, during the meeting, the Russian side expressed complaints in connection with Abkhazia's refusal to fulfill its obligations and announced the suspension of funding for the republic. Bzhania, in turn, complained about members of parliament who oppose a number of Russian initiatives, and even stated that he could provide a list of them - for subsequent deprivation of their Russian citizenship.
Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov, in turn, commented on the sanctions imposed by Moscow in an interview with the RBC TV channel. According to him, the suspension of social payments in Abkhazia is not an escalation - it is about maintaining the balance of the obligations assumed by the governments of the two countries.
