The lawyer demanded that the FSIN officers involved in the death of the Crimean Tatar Cemil Gafarov be brought to justice.

The Investigation Committee of the Rostov Region sent the application of lawyer Rifat Jachin for consideration in Novocherkassk. He called for the prosecution of FSIN officers involved in the death of 61-year-old Crimean Tatar Cemil Gafarov. This was reported by the defender of the deceased in Novocherkassk remand centre political prisoner.

Rifat Yahin brought several charges: failure to treat the patient, abuse of authority and negligence. According to him, before his death, Gafarov complained several times within a month to the SIZO management that he was getting worse: his heart was burning, his head was aching, there was high pressure and difficulty breathing.

Recall, Cemil Gafarov died on February 10, 2023 in Novocherkassk. The autopsy showed that the cause of death was acute cardiovascular failure, which resulted from atherosclerotic heart disease. The political prisoner died a few days later of the stage. Yakhin, in his appeal to the Investigation Committee, stressed that Gafarov’s transfer in this state threatened his life and health.
