Russia’s Minister of Natural Resources and Ecology, Alexander Kozlov, has awarded the Head of the Chechen Republic, Ramzan Kadyrov, a medal "For Assistance." The award was delivered to the republic by Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Patrushev, who oversees the agro-industrial complex and environmental issues within the government.
Grozny-based football club Akhmat has announced the departure of head coach Stanislav Cherchesov. The contract was terminated by mutual agreement following a defeat to Dynamo Moscow in the 13th round of the Russian Premier League (RPL).
Cherchesov had been in charge of the team since August 2025. During his tenure, Akhmat played 40 league matches under his leadership, recording 11 wins, 15 draws, and 14 losses.
The Grozny side has failed to secure a victory in any of their last six league matches. Since their win against Dynamo Makhachkala on September 13, the team has suffered four defeats and managed one draw. Akhmat currently sits in 15th place in the RPL standings with 11 points, placing them in the direct relegation zone. They trail Dynamo Makhachkala—who occupy 11th place—by two points.
The team has also struggled in the Russian Cup. Heading into the final round of the group stage, Akhmat sits at the bottom of their group, though they still have a chance to reach the "Regions' Path" playoffs—a feat that would require them to defeat Krasnodar.
Cherchesov returned to Akhmat in the summer of 2025, replacing Alexander Storozhuk. He had previously worked at the club—then known as Terek—between September 2011 and May 2013, leading the team to an eighth-place finish in the league. According to RB Sport, Rolan Gusev has emerged as a candidate for the vacant position. He previously managed Dynamo Moscow, having taken over from Valery Karpin following the latter’s departure last season. The outlet reports that Gusev turned down an offer from Fakel Voronezh in favor of a potential role at the Grozny-based club.
