From scientific achievements to environmental stewardship: Ramzan Kadyrov receives a new medal

Russia’s Minister of Natural Resources and Ecology, Alexander Kozlov, has awarded the Head of the Chechen Republic, Ramzan Kadyrov, a medal "For Assistance." The award was delivered to the republic by Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Patrushev, who oversees the agro-industrial complex and environmental issues within the government.

Speaking at the presentation ceremony, Patrushev highlighted Kadyrov’s focus on environmental protection. He cited the construction of protective structures following spring floods in the North Caucasus and the development of a waste-processing complex as examples. However, the specific grounds for the award were not explicitly stated.

"Environmental protection is an area I have been working on for three years now. I would like to thank you for the great attention you pay to this subject. We have a small token of recognition in this regard," Patrushev said.

Reporting on the meeting with the Deputy Prime Minister on his Telegram channel, Ramzan Kadyrov wrote: "At the conclusion of the meeting, I was pleased to receive the 'For Assistance' medal from the Ministry of Natural Resources and Ecology of the Russian Federation, presented by Dmitry Nikolayevich. I am confident that, through our joint efforts with the federal government, we will do everything possible to implement environmental protection initiatives at the highest level."

This new honor is the latest addition to a collection of distinctions Kadyrov has received recently. In October, marking his 50th birthday, he was awarded a "maroon beret" (a symbol of elite special forces), as well as orders from the Russian Orthodox Church and the Spiritual Assembly of Muslims of Russia. Furthermore, Russian President Vladimir Putin promoted him to the highest general officer rank.

In April 2026, the Head of the Chechen Republic was awarded a medal "For Contribution to the Development of Science."
