Armenia has effectively rejected Moscow's mediation in negotiations with Azerbaijan
It is unlikely that Yerevan will accept Russia's mediation in negotiations with Baku due to the negative experience. This was stated by the speaker of the Armenian parliament, Alen Simonyan.

"I think it is unlikely. Of course, we are discussing each specific proposal, but the past experience has left many bad memories, we have many questions to which we still have no answers... We have experienced examples of Russia's mediation on ourselves and our children, and this still hurts us," Simonyan shared.

According to him, the negotiations between Armenia and Azerbaijan have not reached a dead end, but the latter has not responded to proposals for three months.

Earlier, official Baku has repeatedly stated that in order to sign a peace agreement, Armenia must amend its constitution to eliminate the territorial claims it has there.

In Moscow, the presidential press secretary Dmitry Peskov responded to Simonyan's words.

"We have heard statements from Yerevan at various levels that there is no need for mediators. Yerevan and Baku are capable of continuing these negotiations themselves until the finalization of this process. While maintaining our readiness to provide any possible assistance, we will welcome independent efforts," he emphasized.

Last year, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov stated that "the Armenian leadership, apparently, has consciously decided to consistently pursue a policy of worsening relations with Russia, including blaming it for everything that happened with Nagorno-Karabakh." In addition, Russian Foreign Ministry representative Maria Zakharova called the statement by the Secretary of the Armenian Security Council that "Russia took Nagorno-Karabakh from Armenia and the Armenians and returned it to Azerbaijan" an insult.
