Georgia's ruling party has initiated amendments to the Law on Assemblies and Manifestations and the Code of Administrative Offenses, the discussion and adoption of which will proceed expeditiously. According to the bill, organizers of events at "places where people move" will be required to notify state authorities in advance.
Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan refused to participate in the CSTO Foreign Ministers Council, which is taking place today in Kyrgyzstan. A CSTO summit will also be held there in the fall, which is expected to be attended by Russian President Vladimir Putin. It is unknown whether Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan will take part in it. Yerevan has frozen its presence in all meetings of the structure since last year.
Instead of participating in the CSTO, the Armenian leadership is receiving the EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs Kaja Kallas. First, she met with the country's President Vahagn Khachaturyan. The parties discussed deepening bilateral relations, as well as support for reforms in Armenia. In addition, Kallas visited the headquarters of the EU mission in Yerevan. Her meetings with Pashinyan and Mirzoyan are also planned.
Recall that in 2024, Nikol Pashinyan announced the freezing of Armenia's participation in the CSTO. Later, the Foreign Ministry reported that the country would not participate in the financing of the bloc.
The Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) is a regional international organization created to "protect the independence, sovereignty and territorial integrity" of its member states. The bloc includes the Russian Federation, Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Tajikistan and Kyrgyzstan. Since last year, Armenia has not actually participated in the activities of the CSTO.
