Armenia: «Peace in the South Caucasus is impossible without Turkey and Azerbaijan»

«We are hopeful that Turkey will take effective steps towards peace in the region,» said Speaker of the Armenian Parliament Alain Simonyan. He also noted that his country has no territorial claims against Azerbaijan. «We are ready and very interested in the conclusion of the peace agreement with Azerbaijan and do not see problems in opening the region for trade purposes», - said Simonyan.

Full normalization of Armenia’s relations with Azerbaijan and Turkey, which are its neighbours, will create new opportunities for the peoples of the entire Caucasus region, as stated in an article by Turkish Defense Minister Hulusi Akar published in TRT World. According to him, there is a danger of a new escalation between Yerevan and Baku due to the non-signatory peace treaty. The Turkish Minister noted that the periodic shootings on the Armenian-Azerbaijani border, the existing tensions and so far unsuccessful attempts to sign a peace treaty cause concern.
