Armenia withdrew Russian border guards from Yerevan airport

Russian border guards have finally left Yerevan's Zvartnots airport after 32 years. The farewell event was attended by the leadership and personnel of the Russian FSB Border Guard Service in Armenia.

The protocol notes that Russian specialists provided invaluable assistance, including in training national personnel during their long-term joint service to ensure border control.

"Your not always visible, but very necessary work has made and continues to make a significant contribution to ensuring the security of both Armenia and Russia. It is safe to say that the border, thanks to you, is locked," said Maxim Seleznev, Counselor-Envoy of the Russian Embassy.

Earlier, the Armenian authorities announced the suspension of membership in the pro-Russian CSTO bloc, as well as the country's desire to become a candidate for EU membership. In addition, Armenia held military exercises jointly with the United States and increased purchases of weapons and military equipment from European countries and India.

Today, Russian Foreign Ministry spokesman Andrei Nastasin stated that “the West is actively destroying the established ties in the South Caucasus.”

“To do this, they are trying to infiltrate all areas of multifaceted relations with regional partners, with special attention being paid to the issue of security,” Andrei Nastasin emphasized.
