Attack on Wildberries warehouses may cause delivery delays in southern Russia and the North Caucasus

A drone attack on one of Wildberries' largest logistics centers in Elektrostal, near Moscow, may impact delivery times to regions including southern Russia and the North Caucasus. This federal distribution center processes orders for various parts of the country, but the company has not yet reported any network disruptions or changes to delivery times.

On the night of July 18, drones attacked Wildberries logistics facilities in the Moscow and Tambov regions. According to Russian authorities, eight people were killed and more than 60 were injured. The Ukrainian side stated that the strikes targeted logistics facilities, which it claimed were used to supply components for drone production and navigation equipment. Wildberries has not confirmed this information.

The Elektrostal logistics center is considered one of Wildberries' largest federal distribution centers. If its operations are seriously disrupted, the company will be able to redistribute some orders through other warehouses. However, such a logistics restructuring may increase delivery times for certain products.

In southern Russia, Wildberries operates several large logistics facilities, including in the Krasnodar and Stavropol Krais, and the Rostov and Volgograd Oblasts. For the North Caucasus, sorting centers in Nevinnomyssk and the Pyatigorsk region (Etoka settlement) play a key role, handling a significant portion of deliveries to the republics of the district and neighboring regions in southern Russia. The presence of regional logistics centers reduces dependence on Elektrostal near Moscow, but does not eliminate delays for goods stored there or transiting through this distribution center.

In all other regions, the company operates primarily through a network of order pickup points. They operate in the Krasnodar Krai, Rostov Oblast, Adygea, and throughout the North Caucasus—Dagestan, Chechnya, Ingushetia, North Ossetia, Kabardino-Balkaria, and Karachay-Cherkessia. The company does not disclose the exact number of pickup points, but dozens of locations are in the largest regions.

These strikes did not cause direct damage to Wildberries' infrastructure in southern Russia and the North Caucasus. However, if damage to federal logistics centers leads to a redistribution of cargo flows, this could increase the load on sorting centers in Stavropol Krai and impact delivery times for orders both to the North Caucasus republics and to neighboring regions in southern Russia—Krasnodar Krai, Rostov and Volgograd Oblasts, and Adygea.

At the time of publication, Wildberries had not reported any network disruptions, changes in delivery times, or redistribution of cargo flows.
