A resident of Ingushetia, Adam Kotiev, was charged with concealing information about crimes committed. He was fined 25,000 rubles for failure to report.
The detention conditions of Azerbaijani opposition figure and leader of the Popular Front Party (PFPA), Ali Karimli, have been significantly tightened. The politician told his family that the wave of repressive measures began after his interview with France 24. He was subsequently transferred to another facility.
According to Karimli, he has been effectively deprived of his basic rights: the television and radio in his cell have been turned off, and newspapers provided by his lawyers have not been delivered. His daily two-hour walks have also been cancelled.
The opposition figure complained that he suffers from insomnia due to the unbearable conditions in prison, and further extension of the restrictions could negatively impact his health.
Despite the pressure, Ali Karimli declared that no hardships will stop him from fighting for freedom, justice, and his principles.
Karimli's representatives claim that renewed pressure on the politician began after France 24 published a written interview with him on June 10. In it, he stated that he was being persecuted for his long-standing opposition to President Aliyev's regime and considered himself a "prisoner of conscience." Karimli also expressed concern about his safety in custody, citing the deaths of other political prisoners, and said he did not rule out the possibility of assassination.
Ali Karimli has been in custody since late 2025 in a case related to the former head of the Azerbaijani Presidential Administration, Ramiz Mehdiyev. He is accused of attempting a coup d'état. Karimli denies the charges, calling them fabricated and politically motivated. The Popular Front Party (PFPA) denies any involvement in plotting the coup.
