Seasonal declines in vegetable prices continued across Russia’s North Caucasus over the past week, while fuel costs and several food staples recorded further increases. The most notable developments were a sharp rise in gasoline prices in Ingushetia and a surge in laundry detergent prices in North Ossetia, according to the latest weekly price monitoring by regional branches of Russia’s Federal State Statistics Service (Rosstat) covering July 14–20.

In North Ossetia, laundry detergent posted the steepest weekly increase, rising by 8.6%. Prices also climbed for onions, televisions, boiled sausage and frankfurters. At the same time, tomatoes, eggs, potatoes and white cabbage became cheaper.

Ingushetia recorded the most significant increase in motor fuel prices. The price of AI-92 gasoline jumped by around 11%, while diesel fuel also became more expensive. At the same time, the republic ranked among the regions with the sharpest declines in seasonal vegetable prices, with potatoes, cabbage, onions, carrots, beets and tomatoes all posting lower prices.

In Kabardino-Balkaria, the strongest price increases were recorded for boiled sausage, biscuits, sugar and eggs. Seasonal declines continued for cabbage, cucumbers and tomatoes, while the main grades of gasoline also edged higher.

In Stavropol Krai, fuel remained the main driver of price growth, with AI-92 gasoline registering the largest increase. Prices also rose for canned meat products for baby food, boiled sausage and sugar. Meanwhile, potatoes, kefir, pasta, as well as fresh cucumbers and tomatoes, became cheaper.

Despite regional differences, the overall trend remained broadly consistent. As the new harvest reaches the market, seasonal vegetables — particularly tomatoes, cucumbers, potatoes and cabbage — continue to decline in price across much of the North Caucasus. At the same time, many regions are experiencing rising gasoline prices and higher costs for selected meat products, partly offsetting the savings from cheaper fruit and vegetable produce.

A comprehensive comparison across all North Caucasus regions is not yet possible due to differences in data availability. North Caucasus Stat (Severo-Kavkazstat) publishes weekly monitoring for Stavropol Krai, North Ossetia, Ingushetia, Kabardino-Balkaria and Karachay-Cherkessia. In Chechnya, only food price data are released on a regular basis, while in Dagestan the most recent weekly report available at the time of publication covered the period ending July 13.
