Baku demands explanation from Moscow over entry denial for Azerbaijani MP

Azeri MP Azer Badamov was denied entry to the Russian Federation. The incident occurred at the Moscow airport, where Badamov was detained and not allowed on a flight to Astrakhan. He was later returned to Baku.

The MP was part of the Azerbaijani delegation invited to Astrakhan to participate in events dedicated to the 102nd anniversary of Heydar Aliyev's birth. The visit was organized at the invitation of the Astrakhan regional government.

A spokesman for the Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry Aykhan Hajizade noted that the decision to ban entry was made without prior notice or explanation. The agency sent an official request to Moscow.

According to Hajizade, the Russian Foreign Ministry representative stated that the matter would be investigated, but did not provide an explanation for the entry ban. The Azerbaijani side regards these actions as an unfriendly step.
