Most of those wishing to obtain asylum in Georgia were citizens of Ukraine

In the first quarter of this year, 66 Ukrainian citizens requested asylum in Georgia. During this period, the migration service received requests from 379 people from different countries.

Among the asylum seekers there are also 51 citizens of India, 45 of Iran, 43 of Turkey, 35 of Pakistan, 23 of the Russian Federation, 15 of Iraq, 14 of Jordan, 12 of Nigeria, 10 of Syria, 9 of Belarus. 158 foreigners were denied status. Most of them are citizens of Turkey (33), Iran (29), Pakistan (22), Nigeria (15) and the Russian Federation (8).

In three months, 59 citizens of other countries were expelled from Georgia. Of these, 11 people are from Iraq, 7 are from Iran, as well as 5 citizens of Azerbaijan, Turkey, Nigeria and the Russian Federation. 16 foreigners were placed in temporary accommodation centers, including 23 citizens of Azerbaijan, 10 of China, 6 of the Russian Federation, 4 of Turkey, as well as 1 citizen of Ukraine and Armenia.
