The Georgian Parliament has expeditiously passed a bill in its third and final reading requiring organizers of protests in "places where people gather or where vehicles are moving" (including on sidewalks) to notify the police. The responsible person must contact the Patrol Service Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs (located at the location of the demonstration) in writing no later than five days before the rally.
The Prosecutor General's Office approved the indictment in the criminal case against the former Minister of Sports of Dagestan and the head of the city of Kyzylyurt Magomed Magomedov. He is accused of embezzlement on a large scale and the creation of a criminal gang, while the more serious article - financing of terrorism - was removed from the charge.
Magomedov denied all charges. Law enforcement officials believe that the former official embezzled 460,000 rubles from the budget. However, the accusation that Magomedov sponsored members of underground gangs and contributed to terrorism was removed from the former official. Earlier, he was accused of transferring 100,000 dollars to the criminal authority Magomedhabib Magomedaliyev. The currency was supposed to be used to finance one of the militant gangs operating in Dagestan at the time.
As part of the investigation of the criminal case, the court seized Magomedov's assets. Among them are seven land plots with an area of 312 to 10,000 square meters, two premises and five detached. He himself has been under arrest since 2023.
