On August 31, the Southern District Military Court in Rostov-on-Don rejected all 52 motions filed by the defense in the case of the so-called "fifth Bakhchisarai group." Judge Roman Saprunov rendered the ruling as part of the panel of judges. This was reported by Amina Seitumerova, the wife of political prisoner Abdulmedzhit Seitumerov, who is a defendant in the case.
Sochi and the federal territory of Sirius were hit by a massive drone attack on the night of September 4. A fire broke out at an oil depot, and windows in several residential buildings and other structures were damaged. Preliminary reports indicate no injuries.
Sochi Mayor Andrei Proshunin issued a warning of the attack threat around 12:40 AM Moscow time. Residents reported multiple explosions overnight. During the attack, restrictions on aircraft landings and departures were imposed at Sochi Airport.
According to the Krasnodar Krai task force, drone debris was found at various locations. Fires broke out in some areas after the crashes, but were quickly extinguished. The fire at the oil depot was also contained, but authorities did not specify which facility was damaged or the extent of the damage.
The independent Telegram channel ASTRA, having analyzed eyewitness photos and videos, claims that the target may be the Rosneft-Kubannefteprodukt base in the Adler district. According to the channel, this facility had previously been the target of an attack in August 2025.
At Sirius, the fire occurred near the Psou River, near the border with Abkhazia. ASTRA compared eyewitness footage with the terrain and concluded that the source was near a Russian air defense unit. According to open sources, an S-300 or S-400 system may be located in this area. According to ASTRA's preliminary assessment, the air defense facility may have been the target of the strike. Russian authorities have not confirmed its destruction. However, after the attack, Proshunin urged residents not to publish photos and videos of the aftermath, air defense operations, or the actions of emergency services.
The overnight attack also affected other areas of southern Russia. In the Rostov region, authorities reported the destruction of approximately 25 drones in six districts.
According to the Russian Ministry of Defense, a total of 490 drones were destroyed or intercepted over Russian regions and the Black Sea between 8:00 PM on September 3 and 8:00 AM on September 4.
