Georgia and Azerbaijan are striving to simplify border crossings: the parties plan to introduce a single-window system at joint border crossings.

Georgia's ruling Georgian Dream party claims that the law on foreign agents, which contradicts the principles of democracy and human rights, is good. Individuals who decided to turn Georgia into a Russian gray zone because of their dubious business deals must be punished. This was stated at a hearing in the US Congress by the former Ambassador of Georgia to the EU Natalya Sabanadze.
“Individual sanctions should be [imposed] against those who voted for the law on foreign agents. At the same time, ordinary Georgians, the civil sector, which supports the democratic direction, should not suffer,” Sabanadze emphasized.
The issue of suspending visa liberalization between Georgia and the European Union is being considered as one of the sanctions options, said EU Ambassador to Georgia Pavel Gerchinsky.
“The problem is that if visa liberalization is stopped, Georgian citizens will suffer. They have been enjoying free movement conditions for many years, and people will have to pay a high price, and this is definitely not the EU’s goal,” shared Pavel Gerchinsky.
