Former Prime Minister of Georgia headed the ruling party after resignation
Former Prime Minister of Georgia Irakli Garibashvili officially became chairman of the ruling Georgian Dream party. He resigned from his previous post on January 29.
The now former chairman of the ruling party, Irakli Kobakhidze, has been nominated as a candidate for the post of Prime Minister of Georgia. Next week, parliament will have to express confidence in him and the new government he introduced.
Earlier, the Georgian opposition and ex-President Mikheil Saakashvili criticized personnel changes in the country's leadership. In their opinion, power in Georgia is under the shadow control of billionaire Bidzina Ivanishvili, associated with Russia.
