Armenia officially notified the Secretariat of the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) that it refrains from signing the decision "On the CSTO budget for 2024" and, accordingly, from participating in the financing of the bloc's activities. This was reported by the Armenian Foreign Ministry. The ministry added that in accordance with the internal procedures of the organization, information about the annual budget is not subject to public dissemination.
Earlier, the Russian Foreign Ministry stated that if Armenia does not pay the dues by the end of 2025, the CSTO member states may consider various scenarios for the development of the situation.
On February 23, 2024, Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan announced the freezing of Armenia's participation in the CSTO. Later, the Armenian Foreign Ministry reported that the country would not participate in the financing of the bloc. At the beginning of 2025, a report by the Foreign Intelligence Service of Armenia noted that the country does not intend to unfreeze its membership in the organization.
