The Investigative Committee of Armenia has opened criminal cases against 41 participants in the Gyumri unrest, 24 of whom have been arrested. The unrest occurred on October 20 in front of the city hall during the arrest of Vardan Ghukasyan, the mayor of Gyumri. The court sentenced him to two months' pretrial detention on charges of bribery.
Novaya Gazeta Evropa reports, citing sources close to Ramzan Kadyrov, that his health is deteriorating. According to the newspaper, the head of Chechnya ignores doctors' recommendations and self-medicates, which has repeatedly led to crisis situations.
The FSB, through agents close to Kadyrov, is closely monitoring his health, Novaya writes. The newspaper's source claims that Kadyrov's illness is incurable and is progressing, despite the qualified medical care he receives. It is reported that the head of Chechnya regularly undergoes dialysis, and after the crisis in February, a nephrostomy (drainage for urine drainage) was installed.
Novaya Gazeta Evropa notes that a nephrostomy requires wearing special underwear and loose clothing, and also excludes physical activity. The publication draws attention to the fact that Kadyrov has recently lost a lot of weight and started wearing loose clothes, which may be due to his illness and the need to use a urine bag. Novaya Gazeta previously reported on Kadyrov's diagnosis of pancreatic necrosis in 2019.
