The head of the Abkhazian Foreign Ministry commented on the scandalous protocol of the meeting between Bzhania and Kozak

Yesterday, a meeting was held in the parliament of the self-proclaimed Republic of Abkhazia, at which deputies discussed the contents of the notorious "Bzhania-Kozak" protocol. Let us recall that this is a protocol on the agreements reached during the meeting of the Abkhazian delegation headed by President Aslan Bzhania with the deputy head of the presidential administration of the Russian Federation Dmitry Kozak. The document provides for the refusal of financing from Russia and the deprivation of the deputies of the Abkhazian parliament of Russian citizenship.

According to the protocol, during the above-mentioned meeting, the Russian side expressed complaints in connection with Abkhazia's refusal to fulfill its obligations and announced the suspension of financing of the republic. Bzhania, in turn, complained about the deputies of parliament who oppose a number of Russian initiatives, including regarding the opening of the real estate and energy markets to foreigners and the adoption of a law on foreign agents. The President of Abkhazia even stated that he could provide a list of undesirable deputies - for subsequent deprivation of their Russian citizenship.

The session of the Abkhaz parliament was held behind closed doors, without the participation of the media. It was followed by a meeting of opposition representatives with the head of the republic's Ministry of Foreign Affairs Sergei Shamba and the Secretary of the Security Council Raul Lolua. The officials told the deputies that they could not comment on the content of the scandalous "Bzhania-Kozak" protocol, since they had not received the official document.

Nevertheless, today Sergei Shamba decided to comment on a separate point of the protocol - on the possibility of depriving some members of parliament and representatives of opposition political forces of Russian citizenship. According to the head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, society and representatives of the opposition forces are concerned about the issue of possible deprivation of citizenship, but they are not concerned about the sanctions that have already followed. He confirmed that Russia has suspended funding for Abkhazia since September 1 of this year, demanding that the Abkhaz side fulfill certain obligations.

"This is what we should talk about and worry about. Where will this situation lead us, how to get out of it, and what situation will develop in Abkhazia if this confrontation continues? I think that our society should be concerned about these issues first and foremost," Shamba said at a press briefing.
