Ramzan Kadyrov, the Head of the Chechen Republic, criticized the appearance of some Chechen youth during a meeting with the region's security officials. Specifically, he drew attention to young men sporting long beards and cropped trousers.

"We have people with long beards appearing who simply wander along the avenue. They don't attend Friday prayers or even go to the mosque. They walk around in cropped trousers and have turned it all into a fashion statement. They don't need a beard like that," the regional leader concluded, also lamenting that younger people are beginning to imitate their elders.

He urged them to pay attention to the grooming of their beards and to wear them in accordance with religious tradition.

"We tell them: tidy up your beard, trim it neatly, and wear it as prescribed by the Sunnah," Kadyrov said.

The Head of Chechnya also addressed the issue of women's clothing. He stated that recently, female residents of the republic have once again "started going out wrapped in those coverings." Kadyrov is convinced that instead of "Arab-style outfits," women should wear clothing that complies with Islamic precepts—specifically, the hijab.

"The paranja was never in fashion here. Our women always wore headscarves beautifully, covering their hair," the Chechen leader declared.
