The head of the Russian Foreign Ministry will reproach Armenia for moving away from Russia and striving for the West

The lack of progress towards normalizing relations between Armenia and Azerbaijan is caused by the position of Yerevan, which is advised by the West. Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov stated this at a press conference in Moscow.

“The West does not want to allow the implementation of trilateral agreements between Moscow, Baku and Yerevan. The EU and the US want to organize the delimitation of the border between Armenia and Azerbaijan in their own way, bypassing Moscow,” Lavrov said. According to him, the EU mission in Armenia tried to “sniff out” Russia’s actions in the region and Moscow discussed this with Yerevan.

As soon as the West realized that the Russian-Azerbaijani-Armenian process was producing results, they immediately began to infiltrate it without invitation, the minister added. “The West publicly declares to remove the Russian Federation from the South Caucasus; we have not seen any objections from Yerevan. In Armenia they are already publicly declaring: Russia and the CSTO have disappointed, but the West has not,” Lavrov shared.
