The foreign ministers of Armenia and Azerbaijan met to prepare a peace treaty

A meeting between the Foreign Ministers of Armenia and Azerbaijan Ararat Mirzoyan and Jeyhun Bayramov took place in Kazakhstan.

“Armenia is aimed at peace and agreeing on a peace treaty with Azerbaijan. We can go even further: unblock all transport communications in the region,” Mirzoyan said.

“The negotiations in Almaty will be very useful for the settlement of Azerbaijani-Armenian relations. Armenia and Azerbaijan jointly cleared the relevant areas as part of the border delimitation and clarified the geographical coordinates,” Bayramov commented on the meeting. He expressed confidence in the productivity of the work over the next two days, which will allow “to find solutions to existing open issues.”

Earlier, President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev spoke positively about the possible imminent signing of a peace treaty between Azerbaijan and Armenia in Almaty.

“It is symbolic that this important event will take place in the city where the historic Alma-Ata Declaration was signed in December 1991, which established the foundations for the independent development of the CIS countries and approved the principles for determining interstate borders,” Tokayev emphasized.

Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev also noted the positive dynamics of the peace process with Armenia. He stated this during the World Forum “Dialogue for Peace and Global Security.”
