Georgia has proposed that Moscow withdraw its troops from Abkhazia and South Ossetia

Georgia has proposed that Russia withdraw its troops from the self-proclaimed republics of Abkhazia and South Ossetia. This was stated by Kakha Kaladze, Secretary General of the ruling Georgian Dream party. At the same time, he noted that he positively assessed the words of Russian Foreign Minister Lavrov about his readiness to help Georgia normalize relations with the unrecognized republics.
“As for the statement by the Russian Foreign Minister, our government, of course, positively assesses it. However, I would say that along with these statements, it would be good to see concrete actions. For example, in those parts of our territories that are occupied and where Russian military bases are currently located, it would be right to begin developing an action plan for the withdrawal of troops from these territories,” Kaladze noted.
According to him, the Georgian government will do everything possible to achieve reconciliation. Only through peace and mutual forgiveness can territorial integrity be restored and cohabitation established.
First Vice Speaker of the Georgian Parliament Gia Volski also positively assessed the statement of the Russian Foreign Minister. According to him, if Russia does not interfere with the establishment of direct relations with Abkhazia and South Ossetia, this will be a good signal.
