KChR, Ingushetia and Chechnya were among the leaders in infant mortality

The average Russian infant mortality rate for the six months of 2023 was 4.1 per thousand births. At the same time, in the North Caucasus Federal District this figure is 4.7 - the highest among the federal districts.

Child mortality was above the national average in Karachay-Cherkessia (6.8), Ingushetia (5.1), and Chechnya (5). 4.8 deaths per thousand births were recorded in Dagestan, 4.6 - in Kabardino-Balkaria, 4.1 - in North Ossetia.

Among the subjects of the North Caucasus Federal District, the best situation is in the Stavropol Territory. There, the indicator did not exceed 3.8, being below the national average.
