Kobakhidze: There will be no repeat parliamentary elections in Georgia
Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze has ruled out the possibility of holding new parliamentary elections in the country. He said this in response to a question from a local journalist, TASS reports.

“Of course not. What are you talking about?” the head of the Cabinet emphasized.

This categorical statement was made against the backdrop of ongoing rallies in the Georgian capital since November 28. Kobakhidze called the large-scale protests in Tbilisi and other cities “the beginning of the end of liberal fascism.” Recall that it was his statement about freezing the country's European integration process until 2028 that sparked a wave of protests.

On Thursday, the Georgian parliament, working without an opposition, approved the government headed by Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze. Thus, the formation of the executive branch of government, which followed the parliamentary elections, was completed. In addition, the legislative body scheduled the so-called presidential "elections" for December 14, and the inauguration for December 29. However, Salome Zurabishvili stated that she does not intend to leave her post until a legitimate parliament is elected.

Kobakhidze was skeptical about the statement of the current president: "Mrs. Zurabishvili has four Fridays left, she cannot come to terms with this. I understand her emotional state, although on December 29 she will have to leave the residence and give up the building to the legitimately elected president. She lost the elections on October 26. She fought for the radical opposition to win the parliamentary elections and have a guarantee of remaining in office, but she lost them badly."
