In Crimea, police officers issued human rights activist Abdureshit Dzhepparov a warning against violating the law. Law enforcement officials explained the document's origins in connection with the upcoming holiday on May 9th, but such actions typically occur shortly before the Day of Remembrance for the Victims of the Deportation of the Crimean Tatar People (May 18th).
The commander of the Georgian Legion denied Russian propaganda about his death
A number of Russian telegram channels disseminated information that on New Year’s Eve, Russian military personnel killed the commander of the Georgian Legion, Mamuka Mamulashvili, in the Northern Military District zone in Ukraine. He himself called this information part of Russian propaganda.
“They are indulging themselves,” Mamulashvili told Radio Liberty’s Georgian service today.
Earlier, the commander of the Georgian Legion welcomed Georgia's receipt of EU candidate status. The Investigative Committee of Russia opened criminal cases against him under articles on the recruitment of mercenaries and their participation in the armed conflict.
