Crimean Tatar political prisoner is denied medical care

Crimean Tatar political prisoner Emil Ziyadinov, sentenced to 17 years, has been unable to receive dental care in a prison in the Lipetsk region for more than four months. He also began to experience headaches.

Emil Ziyadinov was arrested in July 2020, and in April 2022 he was sentenced to 17 years in prison. The man was found guilty of organizing the activities of a terrorist organization (Part 1 of Article 205.5 of the Criminal Code) and preparing for a violent seizure of power (Article 278 of the Criminal Code) on the basis of membership in the Islamic party Hizb ut-Tahrir.

In Russia, Hizb ut-Tahrir is recognized as a terrorist organization. Its participants are accused and sentenced to real terms after meetings in apartments, conversations on political topics and reading religious literature. According to the project “Support for Political Prisoners. Memorial”, such decisions are unlawful. In other countries of Europe and the world, the party operates absolutely legally.
