Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze posed for a photo with several politicians, including Russian President Vladimir Putin, at a forum in Turkmenistan dedicated to the International Year of Peace and Trust. The editors of the Crimean Tatar newspaper “Qirim” were awarded a fine of 300 thousand rubles under the administrative article on discrediting the Russian army. The reason was a publication that outlined arguments against the participation of Crimeans in the war against Ukraine.
Earlier, searches were carried out in the houses of the publication's editor Bekir Mamutov and his deputy Seyran Ibragimov. Subsequently, both were taken to the Center for Combating Extremism of the Ministry of Internal Affairs.
In 2021, Bekir Mamutov was accused of publishing a UN report that mentioned the Mejlis of the Crimean Tatars. The latter was not listed as an organization banned in the Russian Federation.
“Qirim” is a printed newspaper that raises issues related to the Crimean Tatars and the indigenous population of Crimea, and covers human rights violations.
