Leader of the opposition party "For Georgia" was attacked
At night in the Georgian city of Batumi, in the lobby of the Sheraton Hotel, an attack was committed on the former Prime Minister of the country, the founder of the opposition party "For Georgia" Giorgi Gakharia. It is reported that the politician has a concussion and a broken nose.
 
According to eyewitnesses, representatives of the ruling party - MP Dmitry Samkharadze and member of the Supreme Council of Adjara Giorgi Manvelidze - as well as other people took part in the beating.
 
The Ministry of Internal Affairs reported the beginning of an investigation under Article 126 of the Criminal Code of Georgia (battery). The department does not comment on the involvement of deputies in the incident.
 
Local media write that law enforcement officers were in no hurry and arrived at the scene of the incident only 40 minutes later - much later than the ambulance - which is confirmed by the video recording. By this time, the hotel staff had already begun cleaning up, eliminating the traces.
 
The clinic where the victim was admitted reported that after first aid was administered, he refused hospitalization.
 
“The citizen was admitted by ambulance at 02:34. According to available information, physical violence was used against him. Clinical, laboratory and instrumental studies were conducted. The patient is conscious, hemodynamics are stable. The main injuries were a broken nasal bone and a concussion. Hemodynamics are stable, the patient left the clinic of his own free will,” shared doctor Tako Shantadze.
