A Maykop court has arrested another teenager allegedly involved in the arson of cell phone equipment. Investigators allege that a group of young people, acting on instructions from an unidentified person, set fire to the cell phone station. Although it was not completely destroyed, it was at risk of being disabled.
The day before, during an online connection during a court hearing, ex-President of Georgia Mikheil Saakashvili said that Georgians are depressed.
“It’s hopelessness and uncertainty. We are suffering from a major national depression. That’s why everyone is fleeing the country,” the prisoner stated.
Mikheil Saakashvili also commented on the initiative of the current president of the country, Salome Zurabishvili, to create a “Unity Platform for Europe.” He called for the “people's platform” to be brought directly onto the streets of the Georgian capital.
“This is not the time to just talk. Now is the time to get down to business, formulate specific proposals, involve the civil sector, NGOs, political parties, businessmen and representatives of the government apparatus to develop specific proposals,” Saakashvili said. He also said that he plans to head the Political Activity Committee of the opposition United National Movement party and is ready to “be at the forefront of the political struggle” in the parliamentary elections this fall.
