The Ministry of Justice of Georgia has created a registry for registering organizations under the law on foreign agents

From August 1, according to the adopted law on foreign agents, non-profit organizations in Georgia that are more than 20% sponsored from abroad will be required to fill out declarations on foreign funding. This was announced by the Minister of Justice of the country Rati Bregadze.

"If an NPO does not fulfill the stipulated requirements, the law stipulates the corresponding liability, which means a fine of 25 thousand lari," Rati Bregadze emphasized.

Earlier, three lawsuits were filed against the law on foreign agents in the Constitutional Court of Georgia - from the opposition, NPOs and President Salome Zurabishvili. The applicants claim that the adoption of the law based on Russian models contradicts the Constitution of Georgia: according to it, the country's parliament must "within its powers facilitate the country's accession to the EU and NATO." Due to the law on foreign agents, Georgia's accession process to the European Union was suspended, and the United States imposed visa sanctions against a number of high-ranking officials.
