The Kyiv District Court of Simferopol remanded four Crimean Tatar women: Esma Nimetulayeva, Elviza Aliyeva, Nasiba Saidova, and Fevziye Osmanova, in pretrial detention for two months. The hearing was held behind closed doors, with limited access for support.

Human rights project “Support for political prisoners. Memorial” recognized a resident of the Khabarovsk Territory Zakhar Zaripov as a political prisoner. In February, he was arrested on charges of incitement to terrorism.
According to human rights activists, the reason for the arrest was that Zaripov appealed to the head of Chechnya, Ramzan Kadyrov, on social networks, urging him not to send his fellow countrymen to fight in Ukraine. He also recalled how Chechnya tried to achieve its independence.
“We believe that there is no corpus delicti in Zaripov’s actions, and the case against him was fabricated for political reasons as a tool to intimidate critics of the Russian authorities. The text, because of which a criminal case was opened against him, does not pose a public danger,” human rights activists noted.
