Amid worsening relations with Baku, Azerbaijani media have been banned in Russia

Access to Azerbaijani news sites has been restricted in Russia. It is noted that problems with access are observed in Moscow, Astrakhan, Volgograd, St. Petersburg, Vologda, Chelyabinsk and other regions.

In particular, there is no access to the sites of the Azerbaijani Global Media Group - Report.az, Oxu.az, Caliber.az and other media - via Wi-Fi and mobile Internet.

Earlier, the Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry summoned Russian Ambassador Yevdokimov in connection with unfriendly actions. He was handed a note of protest. The reason for summoning the ambassador was the events of June 27 in Yekaterinburg. As a result of raids by Russian security forces on the homes of Azerbaijanis, two citizens were killed and several more were seriously injured.

"Baku noted that the official explanation of the Russian side contradicts the data of the examination, which recorded signs of violence and torture against those killed and detained," the Foreign Ministry emphasized.

The Azerbaijani side also condemned manifestations of ethnic intolerance in the Russian media. The department called the use of formulations such as "ethnic criminal group" in relation to Azerbaijanis unacceptable.

In addition, Azerbaijan recalled the uninvestigated incident with the plane of the Azerbaijani airline AZAL, shot down on the territory of the Russian Federation. It was noted that "attempts to distort the circumstances of the incident, as well as the disinformation campaign against Azerbaijan, carried out by a number of Russian officials and media, are unacceptable."

Tensions between Baku and Moscow arose after the high-profile air crash that occurred on December 25 last year. The Azerbaijani passenger airliner Embraer 190, flying from Baku to Grozny, crashed near the Kazakh city of Aktau. It is known that there were 67 people on board, of which 42 were citizens of Azerbaijan, 16 of Russia, 6 of Kazakhstan and 3 of Kyrgyzstan. 29 passengers survived. The official cause of the crash of this Azerbaijani airline was "external physical and technical impact". At the same time, the President of Azerbaijan directly stated that the airliner was hit by a missile strike from a Russian air defense system.
