Nine people suspected of preparing terrorist attacks detained in Stavropol

Nine residents of the Stavropol Territory were detained on suspicion of preparing an attack on police officers during the Victory Parade. Eight of them are underage. This was reported by the regional department of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation. The names of the suspects are not indicated. There is also no information about their position and comments from relatives.

“On May 9 of this year, the attackers planned to attack police officers during the celebration of the 80th anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War in one of the municipalities of the Stavropol Territory,” the department said in a statement.

According to security officials, one of the detained teenagers, a resident of the Andropovsky District, took the oath of allegiance to an international terrorist organization in 2024, with whose representatives he communicated via Telegram. Later, according to the FSB, he introduced his relative and seven peers aged 14 to 16 to the criminal group.

The Russian Investigative Committee has opened criminal cases under articles on organizing and participating in the activities of a terrorist organization, as well as assisting terrorist activities.
