The head of the Russian National Guard in North Ossetia was arrested for bribery

Following searches of the North Ossetia branch of the Russian National Guard in Vladikavkaz, the agency's head, Major General of Police Valery Golota, and his deputies were arrested. Criminal cases have been opened against those arrested on suspicion of bribery.

Valery Golota, a native of Mineralnye Vody (born 1967), became head of the North Ossetia branch of the Russian National Guard in September 2021. During his service, he was awarded the Order of Courage and the Medal "For Distinction in the Protection of Public Order." The general has been deployed to regions of the North Caucasus on numerous occasions, and served for a long time in Chechnya, where he led a combined OMON detachment of the Ministry of Internal Affairs' North Caucasus Federal District Special Purpose Police Department. Valery Golota owns a 70 square meter apartment. in Mineralnye Vody, as well as a residential building on the Krasny Pakhar farmstead. According to official records, he recently owned two Nissan vehicles: a Qashqai and an X-Trail.
