Georgia's newly elected president receives congratulations and invitations from foreign partners
Mikheil Kavelashvili, who was appointed as the new president by Georgia's ruling party, received a congratulatory message from his Serbian counterpart with an invitation to visit the country. This is the first invitation to visit from a foreign leader that Kavelashvili has received, according to Newsgeorgia.

"At a time when the world is facing many difficult and complex challenges, it is imperative that leaders of all countries focus on establishing peace and stability. On this path, you will have a reliable partner and friend in the person of Serbia," Aleksandar Vucic wrote.

It is reported that the day before, the protégé of the "Georgian Dream" received congratulations from Ilham Aliyev, Nikol Pashinyan and Alexander Lukashenko.

Recall that for the first time in the history of Georgia, the president was elected not by the population, but by the electoral college. At the same time, the only candidate was Kavelashvili, who ultimately received 224 out of 300 votes. His inauguration is scheduled for December 29. However, the current president of the country, Salome Zurabishvili, said that she will not resign from her post, because she considers the recent parliamentary and now presidential elections illegitimate.
