In Crimea, police officers issued human rights activist Abdureshit Dzhepparov a warning against violating the law. Law enforcement officials explained the document's origins in connection with the upcoming holiday on May 9th, but such actions typically occur shortly before the Day of Remembrance for the Victims of the Deportation of the Crimean Tatar People (May 18th).
Representatives of the Georgian opposition reacted with irony to the decision of the ruling Georgian Dream party to swap the positions of prime minister and chairman. The day before it became known that Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili will take the post of chairman of the party, and its leader Irakli Kobakhidze will apparently head the government.
According to the leader of the UNM party, Levan Khabeishvili, life in Georgia will not become better by rearranging the terms and thousands of citizens will not return to their homeland.
"Doesn't matter. Irakli again, only the hairstyle is different,” noted the leader of the Citizens party, Aleko Elisashvili.
“Ivanishvili moves them like pawns,” said MP Teona Akubardia, referring to the founder of Georgian Dream, billionaire Bidzina Ivanishvili.
“The new composition of the Georgian government will be approved next week. There will also be a speech by the President of the country, Salome Zurabishvili, since according to the regulations, her speech falls on the first day of the spring session,” recalled Chairman of Parliament Shalva Papuashvili.
