Georgia and Azerbaijan are striving to simplify border crossings: the parties plan to introduce a single-window system at joint border crossings.

The opposition parties Girchi, Droa and Akhali made a statement that they would support the initiative of Georgian President Salome Zurabishvili to sign the Georgian Charter. The leaders of the Agmashenebeli Strategy, European Georgia and LELO parties also expressed their support.
The day before, Salome Zurabishvili invited the opposition to reconcile and sign the Georgian Charter. It talks about confirming the country’s Euro-Atlantic course and repealing unpopular and anti-Western laws like the law on foreign agents or offshore companies. If the opposition wins the next parliamentary elections, it will be necessary to carry out reforms in the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the State Security Service and other departments, as well as introduce changes to the Electoral Code. In addition, “politically motivated cases against demonstrators participating in the 2024 protest” will need to be closed and an amnesty declared.
“The government will be formed not from representatives of political parties, but from “people distinguished by professionalism,” who will be approved by the president herself. And after all the points are fulfilled, the parliament will have to hold early elections,” the document says.
The parliamentary leader of the ruling Georgian Dream party, Mamuka Mdinaradze, said that the President of Georgia presented not the “Georgian Charter”, but a “charter of a local war” and she did it “on instructions.”
