Former head of Makhachkala pretrial detention center, convicted of extortion and torture, has gone missing in the "SVO" zone

The convicted former head of Makhachkala pretrial detention center-1, Daud Davydov, who commanded a unit on the front line in the "SVO" zone, has gone missing. This was reported by the chairman of the republic's Public Monitoring Commission, Shamil Khadulaev.

Other media outlets report that Davydov died in the zone of the "special military operation." The man signed a contract with the Ministry of Defense and served in one of the units.

In February 2023, the Kirovsky District Court of Makhachkala sentenced former head of pretrial detention center-1, Daud Davydov, to 8 years in a general regime colony. According to investigators, in 2015-2019, he and his subordinates extorted money from prisoners and beat or threatened them if they refused to pay.

In particular, Davydov and his subordinates tortured a man in a pretrial detention facility and forced him to re-register a land plot, buildings, and an apartment worth more than 5 million rubles in his name. The head of the detention facility also received a bribe of 150 thousand rubles from the prisoner's wife and 300 thousand rubles from the prisoner for improving the conditions of detention.
