The Basmanny District Court in Moscow has remanded Mikhail Nadezhin, head of the Main Directorate of the Kabardino-Balkarian Ministry of Emergency Situations, in pretrial detention for two months. He is accused of accepting a bribe on an especially large scale.

On the sidelines of the 7th European Political Community Summit in Copenhagen, Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan and Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev met. The parties noted the significance of the Washington Agreements and reaffirmed their commitment to further strengthening peace.
During the talks, they discussed the development of transport links and infrastructure in the region, as well as the progress of the TRIPP route project. Furthermore, agreement was reached on completing the OSCE Minsk Process and related structures. The leaders agreed to continue contacts and steps to build confidence between the countries.
On August 8, the leaders of Armenia and Azerbaijan signed a joint declaration in Washington aimed at a peaceful resolution of the conflict. According to the agreement, Armenia will grant the United States long-term rights to develop the Trump Route (TRIPP), which is necessary for Azerbaijan to establish a land link with Nakhchivan through Armenian territory. The foreign ministers of Armenia and Azerbaijan also signed a joint appeal to close the OSCE Minsk Group, which included Russia, and confirmed the text of the future peace agreement.
