Pashinyan and Putin agreed on the withdrawal of Russian troops

A meeting between Russian President Vladimir Putin and Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan took place in Moscow.

According to Putin, trade turnover with Armenia has grown significantly over the past year, and bilateral relations between the countries are developing “very successfully.” Pashinyan, in turn, recalled that Russian border guards will be withdrawn from Yerevan Zvartnots airport. In addition, the Russian military will leave a number of regions of Armenia, where they have been since 2020, since the conflict between Azerbaijan and Armenia over Nagorno-Karabakh. These are points in Syunik, Vayots Dzor, Gegharkunik, Ararat, Tavush.

The day before, the Armenian Foreign Ministry announced that the state would suspend funding for the activities of the CSTO, while the country would remain a member of the organization. Previously, Pashinyan criticized Moscow many times and spoke out in favor of closer relations with Europe and the United States.
